  • Client: University College London
  • Architect: Ian Ritchie
  • Main Contractor: Kier
  • Stone Contractor: Maylim
  • Stone Used: Belgian Blue with Tumbled, Honed and Frosted finishes
  • Completed: September 2014

Belgian Blue was chosen by Ian Ritchie Architects for this communal courtyard in the Fitzrovia area of central London.

The stone’s excellent frost resistance along with the wide variety of finishes available – tumbled for the paving setts, honed and frosted for the benches – underline Belgian Blues suitability for public realm development.

We decided to use Belgian Blue limestone for the external paving and benches as the colour and range of possible finishes add interest and enhance the public realm. We felt confident specifying the stone as it has a proven track record on these type of projects in Europe
